This is my 5th one track wonder – ‘39 By Queen (Brian May). Copied below is my original facebook post:
‘39 by Queen.
The song itself is quite unique. Its very much a folk song, in the stead of some 70s folk artists who shan’t be named – but I’m certain you could figure it out if you SEEK ed who it was. If you listen to the original, its even more like it – it comes complete with 4+ part harmonies over the chorus and big ‘aaaah ahaha ahhhhh ahhhh’ parts over an extra bridge and longer intro. So this in itself isn’t unique.
What is unique, is that it is a very seekers-esque folk song about einstein-style relativity. Its about a bunch of volunteer who travel towards a planet for a year at near the speed of light, and when they get home it’s suddenly 100 years later. Its not one of the best known queen songs, but its one of my favourites.
I’ve used dad’s 12-string for the first time with one of these which has the added benefit that I can get seperate tracks for voice and guitar for the 12st has a pickup in it. All in all, I”m happy with how this turned out.
